Softball Recap: Cottondale Hornets vs. Altha Wildcats
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Cottondale had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Altha Wildcats and snuck past 6-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Cottondale.
Annelise Skipper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Julissa Harris was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Maycee Griffin was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
On Altha's side, Tarrin McCrone put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. McCrone has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. McCrone was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Chelsea Edenfield was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 4-for-4.
