After a string of six wins, South Tahoe's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 48-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fernley Vaqueros. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 55-37 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Despite the defeat, South Tahoe had strong showings from Esha Davis, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 16 points, and Oscar Mendoza, who posted six points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Fernley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bryce Dunagan-Stephens led the charge by going 6 of 14 on his way to 14 points in addition to five assists and five boards. What's more, Dunagan-Stephens also racked up three steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Sheldon Jacobson, who put up 13 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

South Tahoe's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Fernley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

South Tahoe wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 82-70 defeat against McQueen on the 27th. As for Fernley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-44 win against Lowry on the 27th.
