Baseball Game Recap: Federal Hocking Lancers vs. South Gallia Rebels

Federal Hocking extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 41 on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 0-19 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to the South Gallia Rebels, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 back in April.

As for South Gallia, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-12. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

For South Gallia's part, Federal Hocking's batters probably weren't too happy with Aydrien Clickenger, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (he gave up two walks). Clickenger has become a key player for the Rebels: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least ten strikeouts, but 5-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Noah Devine and Garrett Gibson did most of the damage at the plate: Devine got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Gibson went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Gibson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ayden Conwell, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Federal Hocking and South Gallia are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Lancers will head out on the road to square off against Green at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Gallia, they will head out to face off against Southern at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
