Football Recap: Izel Frias Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Arroyo Valley

San Gorgonio had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 20-point drubbing they dealt Arroyo Valley on Tuesday. The Spartans blew past the Hawks 26-6. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hawks, too.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Gorgonio to victory, but perhaps none more so than Izel Frias, who threw for 138 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 57 yards on only eight carries. That's the most rushing yards Frias has posted since back in August. San Gorgonio's leading receiver Angelina Garcia was Frias' top target yet again, picking up 28 receiving yards.

San Gorgonio didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Ava Bogarin picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. She got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

San Gorgonio's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-10. As for Arroyo Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

San Gorgonio will face off against Summit at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The SkyHawks' defense has only allowed 12.2 points per game this season, so the Spartans' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Arroyo Valley, they will take on Colton at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks will be up against the Yellowjackets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.18 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
