Baseball Recap: Coosa Valley Academy Takes a Loss

Coosa Valley Academy had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 17-21 to make it five. They came up short against the Lakeside School Chiefs, falling 6-0. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Rebels' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Lakeside School, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 50-5. The result was nothing new for the Chiefs, who have now won 31 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Lakeside School's part, Coosa Valley Academy's batters probably weren't too happy with Demetrius Hardnett, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (he gave up three walks). Hardnett has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Conner Britton was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Vachon, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lakeside School beat Coosa Valley Academy by a score of 6-1 later that day.
