Baseball Recap: Belle Vernon's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

It's playoff time, and Belle Vernon had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Derry Trojans a 7-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Leopards might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Parker Lind's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cole Matusik, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Bergman, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Belle Vernon moved to 14-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Derry, they dropped their record down to 5-11 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Coming up, Belle Vernon will challenge Beaver on Tuesday. Derry does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
