North Reading got themselves on the board against Newburyport on Friday, but Newburyport never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Clippers. Considering the Hornets have won six games by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

North Reading's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Newburyport, they moved to 12-6 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

North Reading and Newburyport should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings. The Hornets (ranked ninth) will meet Stoneham (ranked 231st) at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Meanwhile, Newburyport will challenge Haverhill at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (35 vs. 221).
