Baseball Game Preview: Henry Hudson Admirals vs. Bound Brook Crusaders

The Henry Hudson Admirals will venture away from home to square off against the Bound Brook Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither Henry Hudson nor Bound Brook posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Henry Hudson fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Dunellen on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Destroyers by a score of 2-1.

David Ortore put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Ortore was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Meanwhile, Bound Brook was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They lost 9-2 to Hackettstown.

Henry Hudson's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Bound Brook, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.

Bound Brook's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Henry Hudson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bound Brook, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Henry Hudson keep running through batters, or will the Crusaders buck the trend?

Henry Hudson might still be hurting after the 13-1 loss they got from Bound Brook in their previous meeting back in April of 2016. Can the Admirals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
