Preview: New Palestine Dragons vs. Franklin County Wildcats

New Palestine has been on the road for three straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Franklin County Wildcats at 2:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.

New Palestine scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They breezed by Southport on the road to the tune of 60-22. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win New Palestine has managed all season.

Allie Blum continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 28 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of New Palestine's points. Kylee Beranek was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Meanwhile, Franklin County entered their tilt with Waldron with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Everything went Franklin County's way against Waldron on Friday as Franklin County made off with a 80-55 win. Given Franklin County's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Waldron is ranked 263rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

New Palestine's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Franklin County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
