Baseball Game Preview: Santa Fe South Saints vs. Ponca City Wildcats

The Santa Fe South Saints will face off against the Ponca City Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Santa Fe South comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Things were looking good for Santa Fe South after they put the first points on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Lutheran, falling 15-5. While the Saints didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lions 4-0 in the first period.

Santa Fe South saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Diego Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Rodriguez also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Ponca City never let their opponents score on Saturday. They put the hurt on Midwest City with a sharp 8-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Ponca City also got a great performance from Ace McCloud as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. What's more, McCloud gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Ponca City let Juan Chavez and Kalon Covey run wild. Chavez scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4, while Covey scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Santa Fe South's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Ponca City, their record is now 3-6.
