Softball Game Preview: King/Drew Golden Eagles vs. Locke Saints

King/Drew is a perfect 7-0 against Locke since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Saints at 2:30 p.m. Locke took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on King/Drew, who comes in off a win.

King/Drew came out on top against Dorsey on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run second inning. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Dons. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Golden Eagles considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Jordan Garcia made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Xeniya Anderson was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Leilani Arauz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

King/Drew was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Locke was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They came up short against Discovery, falling 15-4.

King/Drew has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-14 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.2 runs. As for Locke, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

King/Drew took their victory against Locke when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0 score. Do the Golden Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
