Football Recap: North Bend Central Comes Up Short

North Bend Central lost against Norfolk Catholic back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tigers lost to the Knights at home by a 42-26 margin. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Knights are ranked eighth).

Despite the defeat, North Bend Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Drew Sterup threw for 209 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 48 yards and one touchdown. The Tigers' leading receiver Braxton Chvatal was Sterup's top target yet again, picking up 88 receiving yards and one score.

Nathan Timmerman was a one-man wrecking crew For Norfolk Catholic. as he rushed for 146 yards and four TDs. Those 146 rushing yards gave Timmerman a new career-high.

North Bend Central now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Norfolk Catholic, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, North Bend Central will challenge West Point-Beemer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Norfolk Catholic, they will square off against Arlington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
