Basketball Recap: Greencastle Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Greencastle, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They took down the North Putnam Cougars 58-39 on Friday. Given the Tiger Cubs' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Cougars are ranked 393rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Sam Gooch, who went 9 for 16 on his way to 20 points along with six rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Sutherlin, who went 5 of 10 en route to 14 points and five boards.

The victory snapped Greencastle's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-5 record. As for North Putnam, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Greencastle and Edgewood will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. North Putnam has already played their next contest (against Cloverdale), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
