Basketball Recap: Monterey Takes a Loss

Monterey lost against York Institute back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Monterey Wildcats fell 61-49 to the York Institute Dragons.

Despite the loss, Monterey still got an impressive performance from Garrett Wessels, who went 7-for-17 en route to 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Brown, who posted 12 points.

Monterey has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season. As for York Institute, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-17.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monterey will welcome Red Boiling Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for York Institute, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Smith County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
