Basketball Game Preview: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears vs. Hidalgo Pirates

The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears will head out on the road to take on the Hidalgo Pirates at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Los Fresnos on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo was dealt an 89-35 loss at the hands of Los Fresnos. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-20.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hidalgo, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 49-26 margin over West Oso on Saturday. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 22 points or more this season.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo dropped their record down to 6-11 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Hidalgo, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo came out on top in a nail-biter against Hidalgo when the teams last played back in December of 2017, sneaking past 53-51. Will Pharr-San Juan-Alamo repeat their success, or does Hidalgo have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
