Basketball Recap: Nixon Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

The Nixon Mustangs took their match on Friday with ease, bagging a 96-33 victory over the Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots thanks in part to Vela, who went 13 of 17 en route to 34 points and six steals. That's the most points he has posted since back in February.

Nixon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 32.7% in those games and 25.3% outside of them. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Nixon will venture away from home to face off against Martin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nixon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.2 points per game this season. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, they will welcome Palmview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Palmview will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Mission Veterans Memorial surely won't give up without a fight.
