Citizens Christian Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gray McLean, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. McLean is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last three times Deerfield-Windsor and Southland Academy have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Knights walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Raiders.
Gage Tomlinson made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 6.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits. Tomlinson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Grier Morey was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Thomas Phillips also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Deerfield-Windsor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Citizens Christian Academy's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Deerfield-Windsor, their record is now 15-7-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Citizens Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Deerfield-Windsor struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts.
