Baseball Recap: Aubrey Rogers Triumphs

Aubrey Rogers proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 14) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Lemon Bay Manta Rays 5-3. While the Patriots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

David Amaya made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Amaya was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harry Lyons, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Aubrey Rogers hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive matches.

Aubrey Rogers' record now sits at 6-3. As for Lemon Bay, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-3 record.

Looking ahead, Aubrey Rogers will be playing in front of their home fans against Lely at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lely has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.11 runs per game on average), something Aubrey Rogers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lemon Bay, they will square off against Port Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Port Charlotte's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so Lemon Bay's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
