Baseball Recap: Cascade Gets the Win

Cascade won the last time they faced Community and things went their way on Monday too. The Champions had just enough and edged out the Vikings 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Champions have posted against the Vikings since April 11, 2023.

Jayden Hathcock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Wickey Parker was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times he's played.

Cascade is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Community, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-23-1.

Cascade will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
