Baseball Recap: Cathedral Takes a Loss

Cathedral was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They fell 11-7 to the Brawley Wildcats.

Cathedral got a good showing from Joshua Esparza, who pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Esparza a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Jonathan Hernandez and Nathan Leal stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hernandez went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Leal went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Leal has hit this season.

Cathedral now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Brawley, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

Looking ahead, Cathedral is taking a road trip to take on Palm Desert at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. As for Brawley, they will be taking part in a tournament against St. Francis at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
