Volleyball Recap: Saint Mary's Hall's Undefeated Season over After Six Games

Saint Mary's Hall lost against Devine back in September of 2015, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Barons fell just short of the Warhorses / Arabians by a score of 2-1. The matchup marked the Barons' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Saint Mary's Hall started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-21, 25-18.

Despite the loss, Saint Mary's Hall still got an impressive performance from Breanna Benavides, who had 19 digs and five aces. Benavides is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 35 games she's played dating back to last season.

Devine's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cami Carroll, who had 13 digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Carroll a new career-high. Greeley Malone was another key player, getting eight digs and three aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, Saint Mary's Hall fell to 5-1. As for Devine, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Saint Mary's Hall wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Crystal City on the 23rd. As for Devine, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Ingram Moore on the 23rd.
