Basketball Recap: Winn Comes Up Short

Winn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They were dealt a 74-36 loss at the hands of the Southwest Legacy Titans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mavericks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-40 back in December of 2024.

Garnelle Zor was her usual excellent self, going 13 of 23 on her way to 31 points in addition to eight steals and six rebounds for Southwest Legacy. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Zor has scored at least a third of Southwest Legacy's points. Another player making a difference was Danica Thurman, who went 5 for 9 en route to 11 points and three steals.

Winn's defeat dropped their record down to 4-25. As for Southwest Legacy, they moved to 8-22 with that win, which also ended their 11-game losing streak.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing McCollum the next time they take the court. Winn will host McCollum at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Southwest Legacy will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on January 28th.
