Basketball Recap: Calhoun Red Devils vs. Doddridge County Bulldogs
Calhoun lost against Doddridge County back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Calhoun Red Devils were dealt a 77-44 loss at the hands of the Doddridge County Bulldogs. The Red Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-18.

Despite the defeat, Calhoun saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cooper Morris went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Morris has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brennen Carpenter, who posted nine points and five rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Doddridge County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Heston Hayes, who had six points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerod Trent, who put up nine points.
Calhoun dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Doddridge County, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Calhoun didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-27 defeat against Man on the 3rd. As for Doddridge County, they are taking a road trip to take on Gilmer County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Doddridge County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Gilmer County likes a good challenge.
