Basketball Recap: North Duplin Beats Princeton for Their Second Straight Win

Princeton came into Monday's matchup looking for another win against North Duplin, but Donavan Armwood wouldn't allow it. The North Duplin Rebels escaped with a win on Monday against the Princeton Bulldogs by the margin of a single free throw, 61-60 thanks in part to Armwood, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Anthony Kornegay, who posted seven points. That's the most points he has posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Princeton saw an underclassman step up: freshman Teo McPhatter went 7 of 13 on his way to 21 points in addition to five boards and three steals. That was a full 35% of Princeton's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Massey, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points.

The victory made it two in a row for North Duplin and bumps their season record up to 2-7. As for Princeton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

North Duplin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-65 loss against Bear Grass Charter on the 8th. As for Princeton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 66-15 win against Jones on the 7th.
