Basketball Recap: Providence Classical's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Providence Classical had lost three straight headed into Tuesday's game, but Malachi Thompson didn't let it get to four. The Providence Classical Paladins came out on top in a nail-biter against the Carolina Christian Lions on Tuesday, sneaking past 47-44 thanks in part to Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

Grafton Eiff was another key player, putting up eight points along with 11 assists and seven steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 8.2 assists per game.

Providence Classical's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Carolina Christian, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Providence Classical will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on UR Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Carolina Christian will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against Walnut Grove Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
