Football Recap: Jay Takes a Loss

Jay was the 41-0 winner over Baker when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Royals fell 29-20 to the Gators on Friday. The Royals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Jay lost, don't look at Jaymes Youngblood. Despite the final result, he rushed for 104 yards and a pair of scores. Youngblood is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 104 every time he's taken the field this season.

Baker's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Justice Baldwin, who threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 33 yards. Baldwin also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up two sacks and making two total tackles. Austin Stanley was Baldwin's top target, picking up 121 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Jay now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Baker, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Looking ahead, Jay will venture away from home to square off against Chipley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Royals will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matches. As for Baker, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rutherford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
