It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but St. Ignatius College Preparatory ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Valley Christian Warriors, sneaking past 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Eddie McCartney looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, DJ Delaney was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Valley Christian, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-5-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Warriors beat St. Ignatius College Preparatory by a score of 5-1 on Saturday.
