Baseball Recap: Saranac Makes It 12 in a Row at Home

Saranac had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the AuSable Valley Patriots 20-2 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won nine in a row.

Austin Lareau was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowing only two earned runs while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Saranac got a massive performance out of Seth Petrashune, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. That's the most RBI Petrashune has posted since back in May of 2024. Landon Giroux was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Saranac always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .650. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Saranac pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for AuSable Valley, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Saranac has already played their next contest, a 5-1 win against Saranac Lake on the 28th. AuSable Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
