Volleyball Game Preview: Beaumont Cougars vs. Redlands East Valley Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Beaumont Cougars challenge Redlands East Valley Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Beaumont has nine straight victories, Redlands East Valley has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Beaumont was able to grind out a solid win over Citrus Valley, taking the game 3-1.

Beaumont had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-10, 25-19, 25-11.

Meanwhile, Redlands East Valley came up short against Yucaipa on Tuesday, falling 3-0.

While Redlands East Valley was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-19, 25-22.

Beaumont will have to contain Vic Liao as he made an impact in Redlands East Valley's last game. He had nine digs and three aces. Those three aces gave Liao a new career-high.

Beaumont's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. As for Redlands East Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
