            Softball Recap: Malone Tigers vs. Chipley Tigers        
        
		
        
        
            Malone extended their losing streak  to three  on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-10 in the process. They lost  16-0 to Chipley. While getting shut out isn't ideal, Malone hasn't been shut out since  back in February.
As for Chipley, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record  this season. The result was nothing new for Chipley, who have now won eight contests by six  runs or more  so far this season.
For Chipley's part,  Lauren Waits made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run and  allowing only  one  hit over four innings pitched. Waits has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with two  stolen bases, three  runs,  and two  doubles. That's the most  runs  she has posted since back in April of 2024.
 In other batting news,  Jadyn Pettis and  Adalyn Nelson did most of the damage at the plate:  Pettis  got on base  in all four of her plate appearances with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI, while  Nelson  went 1-for-3 with three  stolen bases, three  RBI,  and one  run. Those  three  stolen bases gave  Nelson a new career-high.  Julia Mitchell also deserves some recognition as  she  snagged her first  stolen base of the season.
 Looking ahead, Malone will be playing at home against Poplar Springs  at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Chipley, they will venture away from home to  challenge Altha  at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 8.6  runs per game this season.
