Softball Recap: Soda Springs Gets the Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Soda Springs faced off against Firth on Friday. The Cardinals walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Cougars. The game was the first time the Cardinals have beaten the Cougars on their field since May 11, 2019.

Abby Goodin spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, McKartie Green was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those hits marked the first that she got this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynlee Hemmert, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for Soda Springs and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for Firth, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Cougars beat Soda Springs by a score of 17-9 later that day.
