Basketball Recap: Shawnee Redskins vs. Century Centurions
Shawnee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 78-52 to the Century Centurions. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Centurions this season, with their most recent loss being a 59-33 defeat back in January.
Despite the loss, Shawnee saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kyler Jewell dropped a double-double with 27 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Mayberry, who posted 11 points along with seven boards and four steals.
Shawnee's defeat dropped their record down to 2-22. As for Century, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shawnee will challenge Egyptian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Egyptian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.3 points per game this season. As for Century, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Dongola at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Century knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Dongola likes a good challenge.
