Volleyball Game Preview: Denton Broncos vs. Birdville Hawks

Denton is 1-9 against Birdville since September of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Broncos will head out to square off against the Hawks at 5:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Tuesday, Denton came up short against Ryan and fell 3-1. While the Broncos didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 25-21 in the first set.

Denton started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-17.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Birdville duked it out with Argyle on Tuesday. The Hawks fell 3-1 to the Eagles. The defeat continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost six in a row.

Birdville came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 25-23.

Denton's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Birdville, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 21-7.

Denton suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Birdville when the teams last played back in September. Can the Broncos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
