Basketball Game Preview: South Laurel Cardinals vs. Pineville Mountain Lions

The South Laurel Cardinals will challenge the Pineville Mountain Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Laurel has 14 straight victories, Pineville has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

South Laurel is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Campbell County, who was ranked 20th at the time (South Laurel was ranked 18th). South Laurel walked away with a 54-46 win over Campbell County on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Pineville suffered their closest loss since December 20, 2023 on Saturday. They fell just short of Madison Southern by a score of 49-46.

South Laurel's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points over those games. As for Pineville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.
