Soccer Game Preview: Hoover vs. Vestavia Hills

Hoover is 2-8 against Vestavia Hills since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Hoover Buccaneers will host the Vestavia Hills Rebels at 6:30 p.m.

Hoover is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alabama's top teams: Mountain Brook, who was ranked sixth at the time (Hoover was ranked 11th). Hoover took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain Brook on Tuesday. The Buccaneers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Vestavia Hills, on the other hand, haven't lost since February 6th and they too continued that trend. Neither they nor James Clemens could gain the upper hand on Friday so the two teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw. The Rebels' loss signaled the end of their undefeated season.

Vestavia Hills' draw gives them a new season record of 8-1-2. As for Hoover, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Hoover beat Vestavia Hills 2-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will Hoover repeat their success, or does Vestavia Hills have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
