Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Porte). They breezed past the Friendswood Mustangs to the tune of 57-21 on Friday. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Mustangs are ranked 390th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sean Simon produced another solid effort rushing for 265 yards and five scores while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Those five rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Simon was just one part of a punishing run game: La Porte was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 508 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 231 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

La Porte's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Friendswood, the loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 2-2.

La Porte has already played their next contest, a 42-16 win against Kingwood Park on the 2nd. As for Friendswood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 39-30 defeat against Crosby on the 3rd.
