Basketball Recap: Frostproof Takes a Loss

In Friday's Canine Competition, Frostproof had to take the L. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 65-64 to the Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maurice Blakely, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 20 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Zavier Powell, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Frostproof smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lincoln Park Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tamario McLeod, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave McLeod a new career-high in blocks (five). Geno Ingram was another key player, going 7 for 11 en route to 19 points.

Frostproof's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Lincoln Park Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-17.

Frostproof will take on Somerset College Prep Academy on Wednesday. Frostproof is facing Somerset College Prep Academy at the right time seeing as Somerset College Prep Academy is stuck on a six-game losing streak. Lincoln Park Academy has already played their next game (against Lake Placid), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
