Volleyball Recap: Onalaska Comes Up Short

Onalaska suffered their biggest defeat since September 11th on Thursday. They came up short against the Holmen Vikings, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

While Onalaska was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Holmen's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-19, 28-26.

Makena Mcgarry paced Onalaska's offense, picking up 11 kills. Mcgarry got some help from Isabella Eckstein and her 17 assists. Finally, Kendall Carlson kept Onalaska's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Onalaska's loss ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 17-9. As for Holmen, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 29-0.

Coincidentally, Onalaska and Holmen will both be playing La Crosse Logan the next time they take the court. The Hilltoppers will host the Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Vikings will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
