Despite the defeat, Grant Gardner was still locked in as he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was his seventh in a row with more than eight strikeouts. On the year, he has an ERA of .71 over 39.7 innings pitched.

Looking ahead, Gardner and Covenant Day will take on Palisades in a tournament on Monday.
