Volleyball Recap: Hatch Valley Takes a Loss

Hatch Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ruidoso Warriors. If the Bears were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Warriors when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Hatch Valley sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 21-25, 25-19, 21-25, 15-9.

Ruidoso's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Serena Chamberlain led the charge by getting eight digs and three aces. Those three aces gave Chamberlain a new career-high. Dustine Alvarado also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

Hatch Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Ruidoso, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hatch Valley will square off against Chaparral at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ruidoso, they will challenge Alamogordo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
