Softball Recap: Mamaroneck Has No Trouble Against Scarsdale

Mamaroneck had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 3-7 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Scarsdale Raiders. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Not much got past Kaitlin Tranquilo, who gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Scarsdale off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Laura Cordova, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Ariana Brito, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Scarsdale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

On Scarsdale's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was J. Hernandez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple.

Coming up, Mamaroneck will welcome New Rochelle at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Scarsdale, they will head out on the road to face off against Eastchester at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
