Baseball Recap: Hanover's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

After soaring to 11 runs the game before, Hanover was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Scituate Sailors by a score of 3-2. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Sailors earlier this season, when they won 5-3.

Cole Hendrickson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hanover saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Van Dyk, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

The defeat snapped Hanover's winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-5 record. As for Scituate, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hanover will take on Marshfield at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Scituate, they will head out to take on Whitman-Hanson Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Sailors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
