Volleyball Recap: Brennan Starts off Right with Win over Smithson Valley

Brennan had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Smithson Valley Rangers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since September 27, 2024.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (108-100) Brennan actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-23, 25-23, 11-25, 15-11.

Smithson Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Madison Moody, who had 14 digs. Another player making a difference was Sophia Fuentes, who had 16 assists.

Smithson Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Brennan will challenge Southwest at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Smithson Valley, they will take on Veterans Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
