Baseball Game Preview: Soledad Aztecs vs. Palma Chieftains

Soledad hasn't had much luck against Palma recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Aztecs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chieftains at 4:00 p.m. Soledad has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Soledad fell victim to Palma and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 16-0 to the Chieftains. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Aztecs have suffered since March 25th.

For Palma's part, they got a great performance from Jackson Harris as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Harris has posted since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Palma let Johnny Carnazzo and Alan Gonzalez run wild. Carnazzo scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Gonzalez went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave Gonzalez a new career-high. Manny Dorantes was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Palma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Soledad only posted a batting average of .067.

Palma's defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-4. As for Soledad, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
