Elyria Catholic is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering South Range just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 11-4 to the Raiders. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered since May 29, 2025.
Jessica Conner and Kailey Tomasch did some serious damage despite the final result: Conner went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Tomasch went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Paytin Baehr, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lake Catholic came up short against Magnificat on Saturday, falling 18-4. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Blue Streaks: they've now lost seven in a row.
Lizzie Bammerlin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season.
Lake Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Elyria Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 14-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Elyria Catholic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lake Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
