Softball Game Preview: Maplewood Panthers vs. Whites Creek Cobras

Maplewood is 0-10 against Whites Creek since April of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Panthers will welcome the Cobras at 4:00 p.m. Maplewood has given up an average of 24 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Maplewood is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Hume-Fogg, falling 27-0.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Whites Creek). They were the clear victors by a 28-16 margin over Pearl-Cohn on Friday.

The team relied heavily on Gabrielle Brooks, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Takira Gooch, who scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.

Whites Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Whites Creek's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Maplewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
