The Whitko Wildcats will take on the Heritage Patriots at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Whitko 3.5, Heritage 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Whitko had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Wabash on Wednesday. The Wildcats blew past the Apaches 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Addie Garr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Addison Patrick and Sophie Keener did most of the damage at the plate: Patrick went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Keener went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those two runs gave Patrick a new career-high. Taylor Long was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Whitko kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wabash only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, Heritage suffered their closest loss since April 26, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Bluffton by a score of 6-4. Patriots fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Tigers since on Friday.
Abriyah James made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Avi Washington, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Whitko is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Heritage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-8.
Heritage's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Whitko has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440. It's a different story for Heritage, though, as they've only averaged .356. Will they be able to contain Whitko's hitters?
