Baseball Preview: Challis Vikings vs. North Fremont Huskies        
        
		
            For the first time this season, Challis will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the North Fremont Huskies  at 1:00  p.m.  on Saturday. Challis' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7  runs per game  this season, so North Fremont's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Challis fought the good fight in their extra-innings  game against Wendell  on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of  8-7. The loss was the Vikings' first of the season.
 Jayden Shepard was cooking despite his team's loss,   scoring a  run while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances.
 Even though they lost, Challis  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .524. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, North Fremont had just enough and edged out Bear Lake  6-5 on Wednesday. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Huskies.
 Garrett Owens made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  struck out eight batters over  four innings while giving up  three earned runs off   five  hits. Owens was also big at the plate,  going a perfect 2-for-2 with one  double.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Mason Muir, who  scored a  run and  stole four bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most  stolen bases  he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was  Hunter Hogle, who  got on base  in all four of his plate appearances with five  stolen bases.
 Having lost for the first time  this season, Challis  fell to 4-1-1. As for North Fremont, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
 Everything went Challis' way against North Fremont when the teams last played  back in April of 2024, as Challis made off with  a  14-3 win. Does  Challis have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Fremont turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
