Basketball Recap: Buckeye Local Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Buckeye Local unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Bellaire Big Reds on Friday, falling 59-34. The Panthers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row dating back to last season.

Bellaire was led to victory by Caleb Jewell and Raekwon Pettigrew. Jewell went 9 for 21 on his way to 26 points and six steals, while Pettigrew posted 18 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Keegan Davis, who had seven points and eight rebounds.

Buckeye Local didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 59-42 loss against River on the 3rd. As for Bellaire, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 69-67 victory against Bridgeport on the 3rd.
