Waterford came into Friday's contest looking for another win against Denair, but Koby Cervantes wouldn't allow it. The Denair Coyotes enjoyed a cozy 63-48 win over the Waterford Wildcats on Friday thanks in part to Cervantes, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 18 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Sebastian Esquivel was another key player, going 5 for 6 en route to 12 points along with eight boards and four steals. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

When it comes to explaining why Waterford lost, don't look at Izaiah Sanchez. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points. That's the most points Sanchez has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Ruiz, who scored 13 points.

Denair is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season. As for Waterford, their loss dropped their record down to 11-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Denair will square off against Gustine at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Waterford, they will face off against Stone Ridge Christian at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th.
